The Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Colorado Springs use a structured curriculum including Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Spanish, Art, Music, Computers, Physical Education, and Religion. All of our schools use nationally recognized, standardized testing through the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). We strive for the highest academic performance, looking for improvement by each child from one year to the next. Our schools meet all standards by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE).
All of our schools are accredited through AdvancED. In order to maintain their accreditation, the schools undergo rigorous, periodic reviews. All teachers are licensed and certified, and a significant number have master’s degrees or doctorates. Many teachers are currently enrolled in masters programs, and our schools are proud to provide built in professional development days for continuing education. The Office of Total Catholic Education provides an additional days for professional development as well as spiritual development through a two-day Aquinas Catechetical Institute. All teachers are in the process or have completed catechetical certification.
The Office of Total Catholic Education strives to create a faith community through daily prayer, participation in liturgies, reception of the sacraments and a strong religion curriculum.
